Communiqué of the Workshop on 'European Migration, Minorities and Prejudices - (Socrates Comenius, Action 1)
Place: Masarykovo Gymnazium, Plzen / Czech Republic

Results:
1. The participants presented their results so far, and the co-ordinator
gave an interim report on the complete project (Socrates application for
2001/2002).
2. The Herford group had an intensive discussion with Czech students
participating in the project. The small working groups discussed the prejudices
among the Germans and the Czechs and possible ways of eliminating such
prejudices. In addition, experience on the research on the Jewish minority
and Holocaust were exchanged.
3. The partners visited the Jewish Synagogue in Plsen and attended
a guided tour as well as visited the Jewish cemetery. In addition, the
partners went to Prague to take part in a guided tour on the Jewish culture
and the Holocoust during World War II.
4. The partners discussed the future activities and agreed on participating
in the International Day of Tolerance on 21 March 2001 (exhibition, use
of chatrooms etc.)
5.The partners agreed on topics of common interest, possible project
activities and agrreements. (cf. the attached document „Inhaltliche
Abpsrachen“ (content agreements)
6. The project-co-ordinator invited the Plzen team (teachers and the
head mistress) to visit the Herford team in June 2001 in order to connect
the results on the Jewish minoritiy on the Internet.
7. The Herford group would like to thank the Plzen team for the hospitality
during the visit in the Czech Republic.
8.. The co-ordianator will inform the partners on the workshop’s results.
